Nanjundaswamy is dead

BANGALORE, FEB. 3. M. D. Nanjundaswamy, president of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and champion of the interests of
Indian agriculture vis-à-vis foreign multinational companies and international trade organisations, passed away here on
Tuesday.
Prof. Nanjundaswamy (68), was suffering from cancer. He had been admitted to the Kidwai Institute of Oncology here. He
is survived by his wife, son, and a daughter.
Hailing from a distinguished family of Nanjangud in Mysore district, he was a professor of law. His father,
Mahanthadevaru, was a leading lawyer of Mysore and member of the erstwhile Mysore Representative Assembly and the State
Legislature after Independence.
A graduate in science and a postgraduate in law from Karnatak University, Prof. Nanjundaswamy was also educated in the
Netherlands and Germany. He was a Rockefeller scholar at The Hague Academy of International Law. He had taught in
various law colleges in Bangalore.
